you are my sky.

VerbTribe has been an extraordinary journey for me as a teacher, and for those who have joined it. As we close our first 37-day journey into writing, I am featuring writing from VerbTribe members here on 37days. One day we wrote a love letter to the sky. Here is writer Sherry Saunders’ paean to the field above us all.
I throw my arms wide, I reach for you with all my passion. I whirl and dance and cry out my desire, and you are always there, never failing me. We sit together quietly for hours on end, no need for words as I bask in your presence. I sense your moods – sometimes your brilliant light bathes me in glory, sometimes you are full of fancy, sometimes your thunder and lightning overpower me, sometimes you wash away all my cares with your tears. Your darkness is deep and fathomless, yet still you twinkle with tiny lights like fireflies just out of my grasp. Your presence is constant, you promise never to leave me. Your brilliance waxes and wanes, tracing the borders of my heart, grabbing the depths of my soul. I am in love with each reflection . Your face gives me strength, gives me courage, gives me hope. In your face I see the face of God. You are my love. You are my sky.
