mindful monday : simple is spacious

IMG_6406 (suddenly, she got taller)

The floor of the front porch has been sanded, and is ready to be painted. What color to choose? I love deep red and deep green, but I think all the dust in the world would show. So I'm veering toward painting it the color of pollen just to acknowledge the reality of spring (and the reality of my not-so-consistent sweeping) in Western North Carolina. The whole house needs painting, but that isn't happening now, so the porch may be out of sync with the rest of the house for a while. I'm good with that, because I'm going to have a traditional Southern blue ceiling on my porch for the very first time. That makes me happy. I might move right out onto the porch and lounge in a chaise all day long just to see the ceiling. Or perhaps Mr Brilliant will install a hanging bed for me out there.

Here's what I'm looking at this week:

I love this. Don't love the price, but love the object.

My friend Kate reminded me of palladian blue. Oh, yes.

Isn't that a luscious shade of grey? I want to paint the insides of all my fireplaces with that.

Need some inspiration for things organized neatly? Look no further.

10 more uncluttering things to do every day.

What I am realizing is that my home is a daily practice in mindfulness.
