stepping forward.

IMG_0018 I'm participating in a 31-day blogging challenge called reverb10, responding to writing prompts that are designed to elicit reflections on 2010, and hopes for 2011. You can find out more about it here. I am challenging myself to respond to each prompt in 15 minutes or less.

Today's challenge: Action – When it comes to aspirations, it’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen. What’s your next step?

stepping forward by sitting very still.

My next action is to sit still.

To develop a meditation practice, to practice yoga, to love well, live fully, and let go deeply.

To be happy in the moment, not in the future.

To step forward by sitting very still.

  • I get so caught up in the busy-ness of life. At times, it’s overwhelming and exhausting. It baffles me because the thing I seek most ardently is Peace and yet, I find myself at odds with it, more often than not. I am so completely in agreement with what you say here that I have it tattooed on my wrist, a constant reminder to “Be Still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10.

    Blessings,

  • oh god. me too. cause my body and soul are demanding it; at a certain point, they can no longer be ignored and i remember they know best. let go deeply. yes.

  • Ya, Momma ! That stillness is such a great place to spend some time. Makes the busy-ness fall away and puts what is so vital to the good life in clear prespective for awhile.
    I will see you there…

  • Lovely! My reflection was similar. My new notion of action is more about being present that reaching for anything. Action isn’t momentum… Yoga will do that to you :)

  • Welcome to the club, Patti. I only wish I had been wise enough to begin this practice when I was 50. You’re ahead of the game.

  • I think stillness of mind and body is definitely under rated. We all get caught up in Facebook, Twitter, email, BBM, etc that we need to get away and reconnect with nature.

For me that means getting on a boat and spending a few hours in the ocean on a nice day here in LA. Different people will respond to different stillness ideas.

I think your post ties in well with one I wrote last week:
