there is no try.

Sam-trapeze (Sam Keen and trapeze)

I'm participating in a 31-day blogging challenge called reverb10, responding to writing prompts that are designed to elicit reflections on 2010, and hopes for 2011. You can find out more about it here. I am challenging myself to respond to each prompt in 15 minutes or less.

Today's challenge: Try – What do you want to try next year? Is there something you wanted to try in 2010? What happened when you did / didn’t go for it?

there is no try.

Do or do not do. There is no try. -Yoda

I don't want to try anything next year. I just want to do things. I either want to do them, whole body leap over the trapeze bar, or I want to sit still and read novels by old Russian novelists who liked run-on sentences.

I don't want to try, I want to do or not do.

I don't want to try to learn sign language. I want to learn sign language.

I don't want to try to write a book with my husband. I want to write a book with my husband.

I don't want to try to write about grief and loss. I want to write about grief and loss.

I don't want to try to fly trapeze with Sam Keen. I want to fly trapeze with Sam Keen.

I don't want to try to create a symphony project with David Robinson. I want to create a symphony project with David Robinson.

I don't want to try to see the Grand Canyon for the first time. I want to see the Grand Canyon for the first time.

I don't want to try to be kinder. I want to be kinder.

I don't want to try to simplify. I want to simplify.

I don't want to try to get to Tybee Island and sit still on hot sand for a few days. I want to get to Tybee Island and sit still on hot sand for a few days.

I don't want to try to make the world a better place. I want to make the world a better place.

I don't want to try to get more fit and eat better and lose weight. I want to get more fit and eat better and lose weight.

I don't want to try to be vegan. I want to be vegan.

I don't want to try to reduce my footprint on the planet. I want to reduce my footprint on the planet.

Try is a hedge, a way out, a disclaimer, a deflection.

Leap.
