found art tuesday: kitchen chalkboard

Found Art I heart all about me

We have a lot of different things installed in our house at Tess' eye level. We had them there for Emma, too, when she was younger.

It seems only fair. Tiny shelves, door knobs and latches, and a chalkboard in the kitchen screwed right into the end of the island at her height.

Last week, I found this on her chalkboard.

How miraculous to feel this way about yourself. How utterly miraculous.

May we all reclaim some part of that adoration, that explosion of love for who we are, that return to a place where we love absolutely everything about ourselves.

I love this. It says so much. About Tess, certainly. But, more importantly, about all of us.

When I used to drop my daughter off at preschool, she would immediately find one of her buddies, grab hands, and run down the hall – hair flying! – hollering, “We’re perfect!” Happily, at age 21, she’s still pretty darn fond of herself. :-)

This art reminds me not only how far I have to go, but shows me that it is possible to get there.

    Thanks, Tess.

  • I believe this says something about those who create the circle of love and support that is the harbor of her world – most specifically her Mama and Papa!

  • Heehee!! I love seeing the world thru Tess’s eyes!

I hope this sense lasts her whole life long.

Failed perfectionist that I am, I can’t remember ever feeling that way about myself.

  • I *heart* this too! I think it speaks of a well adjusted girl who will develop into a healthy woman. It also speaks of remarkable parenting.

My Meg recently hiked up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire (at the age of 6!), but downplayed the accomplishment, pooh-poohing us every time we said how proud of her we were. So I put at her eye level a picture of her taken on the mountain, hoping it will subtly remind her of this very cool thing she did.

Just curious… Are you and Mr. Brilliant going to home-school her?

I sort of always thought it (home-schooling) weird but in this case… well, not weird at all.
