Rick made me cry. In a good way.
In the days leading up to my visit on his blog today, Rick Hamrick wrote some beautiful, generous words that made me cry. In a good way. Rick, my deepest thanks.Rick has a wonderful piece of art in LIAV. When he sent it in, he wrote that it didn’t turn out the way he wanted, and that he knew it wouldn’t be chosen, and that he wasn’t an artist. It’s on page 16 of Life is a Verb so I guess it was real art and was really chosen. Smile. I loved his description of himself for the artist acknowledgments: "A Sufi mystic trapped in the body of a corporate IT manager." And that’s exactly what Rick is. And much more.
Today, I stopped by Rick’s blog, Hamguin’s Hide-not, to muse on a few words with him — words like importance and smallness and infallibility and more.
Stop by, take a moment, and dig into this Sufi mystic’s words about not only my work, but what life is and the work of living…
I will meet Rick for the first time this weekend at the 37days/LIAV retreat in the beautiful hills of North Carolina. Looking forward to the journey, Rick!
