your daily rock : please don’t judge

I have judged people. And they have judged me. It is an ecosystem that flourishes because we all keep judging.

What if we stopped? We can’t stop ourselves from judging, but we can stop ourselves from acting on that judgement. Judging, making decisions about people based on very little information, seems hard-wired into us. That doesn’t mean we have to let it rule our interactions with others.

When you feel yourself judging yourself or others, it is because you are at an “edge,” a hot spot, a place of not knowing. Notice your first thought (judge) and work on your second (learn).

Take a deep breath. Don’t judge yourself for judging, just work with this question: “What else might be true?”

Love,
