your daily rock : make a memory today

We often think making a memory has to be the result of a Big Event.

Sometimes it is.

But more often, making a memory consists of tiny moments shared between two people. Eating a bowl of Cheerios together. Sitting together quietly and watching the sunset one evening. Laughing on the phone together. Making a collage on a big table together.

The key word? Together.

Love,

Photos help children remember things about their childhood and provide continuity. My mom snapped a pix of me in jammies on the kitchen floor in front of the washer playing with paper dolls , and that particular photo brings up a chorus of memories: how as a very small child I liked to snuggle down in the heaps of laundry waiting to go into the wash, how mama would try to keep me entertained but quiet on sick days (I suffered from childhood migraine),even watching mama sew the pajamas I’m wearing in the picture, not to mention the smells and sounds all of that brings with it (some not very appealing).
