your daily rock : dance more!

Feel self conscious about dancing? Me, too. It didn’t used to be that way. Every Friday night in high school, I was on the dance floor with my friend Steve, doing elaborate disco moves (stop laughing).

I haven’t danced like that–with abandon and joy and passion–in years. Decades.

So I’m heeding this rock. Self conscious? Do it anyway. In private, if need be. Without mirrors, if you must. Just move your body. Put on music you love and move. Move. No other experience needed. No disco balls, no dance floor, just you in your bathroom or bedroom swaying (or moving more dramatically if you’re up to it).

Music is elemental: Earth, Water, Air, Fire–and Music.

It grounds us to the earth and lifts us up to the sky. It heats us and satisfies our thirst, music does.

The corollary to music is movement. It, too, grounds us, lifts us, heats us, and satisfies us.

Move today. With music. Call it dance, or not. Just move.

Love,
