your daily rock : make art
We know this.
Aristotle has said that “the aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” That’s how art saves us–it’s not the form of the art, but the process of it.
And yet we deflect our creative spirits in so many ways: “I’m not an artist.” “I don’t have an artistic bone in my body.” “I’m not creative.”
What if we stopped doing that? Just stopped. It’s a story we’ve told ourselves for so long.
We can tell a different story.
What if we stepped into our creative spirits fully, the ones we had when we were four years old? That’s the real us, before we started comparing ourselves to other people, before we started expecting too much of ourselves, before we fully invested in the story of “not enough.”
What if “make art” could mean whatever we wanted it to? What if our life’s meaning could only be revealed by the external representation of what’s inside of us?
What art can you make today?
