your daily rock : fly away home

Every time I travel, my Facebook update on the morning when I wake up, pack, and get ready to come home is always this: “Let’s fly away home.”

There is a sense of great satisfaction when I can say those words–as much as I adore the people I meet when I travel, there comes a time to relax and set down my luggage. I know “home” may not be that place for everyone, but each of us needs someplace we can fly away to, that place that gives us comfort.

Perhaps that is home, and perhaps it is somewhere else, somewhere closer. As Buddha said, “Do not look for a sanctuary in anyone except your self.” So let’s start there.

Today, imagine you are tired and ready to set down your baggage. Create or find or name the space you need to fly to in order for that to happen. And first look inside for that sanctuary; don’t turn yourself away.

Love,
