your daily rock : explore

“I prefer to explore the most intimate moments, the smaller, crystallized details we all hinge our lives on.” -Rita Dove

We think of explorers as bold men and women going where no one has gone before. We think of great expeditions, sherpas, grand expanses. We think of big moments, like a huge Chicago musical, in which big things get played out.

And yet, our lives hinge on those smaller, crystallized details poet Rita Dove explores.

Throw a hula hoop on your back lawn, or a circle of string on your bedside table, or a rubber band on your desk and watch inside that space, that tiny space. Explore that small circle.

Be a tiny explorer today. That’s where the living is.

Love,
