Awareness and mindfulness are two different things. Mindfulness is awareness pointed in a certain direction, on purpose, and (this is important) without judgement. Mindfulness helps us recognize our way out of patterns that no longer serve us, without judging ourselves for having created those patterns in the first place. Judgment, on the other hand, kicks us right out of learning.
Pay attention on purpose, in each moment, without judgement.
