Read Skirt!

Img_3392Several months ago, the publisher of the beautiful Skirt! magazine wrote to ask if she could publish one of these 37days essays in their December "Soulstice" issue.

You’ll find what she chose here.

[By the way, this photo is of a bracelet I had an artist make for a dear, dear friend of mine in Germany, the kind of friend you want to choose as your seatmate.

Earlier, I had the same artist make a "37days" pendant for Emma, to remember me by when I’m traveling–after all, she and Tess were the inspiration for my writing 37days. As I prepared last summer to leave for a long trip, Emma pressed that pendant into my hand to take with me, to keep me safe, to link me to home; with her blessings, I passed it on to someone who needed it during that trip–it became a touchstone for us all, a circle of support and remembering.

Do you have a favorite 37days’ challenge that you’d like to remember or help someone else remember and live by? "Become you," "Write to remember," "Eat on a door," "Carry a small grape," or "Unpack your boxes" or another one that resonated with you?  I’ll post more information on how to get "37days" jewelry soon. You’ll be supporting a wonderful jewelry artist from Santa Fe while remembering to live intentionally at the same time…]

  • My personal favorite would be: “Follow your desire lines.” :)

i think my favorite up to this point is ‘Become You’. great idea, the jewelry. and congrats on the magazine article!

  • Oh my goodness, this is some sort of cosmic coming-together of all things wonderful. I have such a Thing for jewelry that says something on it. And to have 37days phrases! I could get them out of deli.cio.us and onto my wrist! O, the goodness.

These are the ones I’ll have to choose among:
    Forever hold your penguin dear
    Be conscious of your treasures
    Help someone buy a cow
    Give free hugs
    Polish your mud balls
    Rest your weary head
    Become you
    Eat on a door
Open the mud room door for Tycho
    Retreat to move forward
Be still, or at the very most, swing slowly
    Purge your portfolio
    Don’t graduate
    Live first, write later
    Be the camera
    Change yardsticks
    Wear pink glasses
    Choose your seatmates wisely
    Don’t look at the postcard
    Say hi to Yaron
    Unpack your boxes
    Keep looking up

Of course, some of those translate to jewelry sentiments better than others. But oooh, the choices.

There are so many favorites! Each one holds a special treasure, waiting to be discovered. If I had to chooose, I’d say Forever hold your penguin near and Wear pink glasses. Thanks for being you and all of the wonderful insights you share with your readers. I greatly appreciate learning from you!

  • This is the most wonderful idea. Your readers can wear their favorite life lessons and never lose sight of the lesson.

I have so many favorites, I’d go broke and jingle like a jitney. I’ll have to think carefully.

    Best of luck
