Be a source of hope – by December 22
A woman named Tana, at one of my favorite blogs, wrote recently to tell me of a unique opportunity being sponsored by a wide network of food blogs:"For the third year in a row, food bloggers all over the world are participating in something called Menu for Hope. Items, experiences, and all manner of food-related deliciousness are being raffled off in an orgy of opportunities for culinary joy. Last year, this effort raised $17K for victims of the Pakistani-India earthquake. This year, the UN World Food Programme is the recipient: in 2005, they provided food to nearly 100 million people."
Tana is one of the participating bloggers: "Through my friendship with food writer (my hero), Michael Ruhlman, I am able to offer a French Laundry cookbook, autographed with a personalized inscription by all three authors (chef Thomas Keller, Susie Heller, and Michael Ruhlman), along with a gift box of four fabulous organic fruit jams, made by my friend and client, Heidi Schlect, of Feel Good Foods here in Santa Cruz. Go on over to the Menu for Hope III donation page, and have at it. You will need to use a certain code for this item, and that code is UW37. Use that code in the Personal Message section of your donation (you’ll see how it works at the donation site)."
In addition to Tana’s wonderful prize offering, there are many, many more: once-in-a-lifetime experiences, fabulous food and cookbooks and equipment. Tickets are just $10 and tomorrow is the last day (Dec 22). I’m hoping for dinner for two with Captain Jack Sparrow. I’m sure it’s on the list somewhere.
