Teach and sleep

Portland_lblDear Friends,

I’m writing from a dorm room in beautiful Portland, Oregon, where I’ll spend the rest of the month, teaching. Since I won’t have the time or available brain cells to write any essays, I think I’ll post something simple each day, perhaps a quote I love and that makes me say "hmmm…", something I long for, a photograph that moves me, a poem I’ll pretend I wrote since I like it so much, a plea for air conditioning (it is over 100+ in the shade here, and not an airconditioner in sight in my dorm so there might be a lot of quotes or poems evoking hell or other warmish places), or a post from a year ago, something to connect me to my real life, that one with Mr Brilliant and those two amazing funny wise girls, the half Jack Russell and half St Bernard dog, those two cats who irritate me sometimes what with that incessant meowing, and Fage 2% yogurt with honey which I haven’t been able to find here yet am addicted to. I hope you’ll enjoy this wee 21-day respite from July heat (or cold, my Kiwi friends).

Love,
Patti
