your daily rock : keep it very simple

I used to create wildly elaborate lists of resolutions, goals, intentions. I’m a list maker. I like making lists and checking things off of them willy-nilly. I liked the challenge of it, the feeling of moving forward, the learning.
This year there are no lists. Well, one. With two items on it.
Like the story I told a few years ago about Toni Morrison’s “to-do” list, I wrote all mine out. Every single thing in a black or red ruled Moleskine notebook, using this method (which is a great practice, by the way). And like her, I read through every item on that list. And like her, I reduced it to two things I must do or I will die:
Be a mother to my children.
Write.
No long lists for me in 2014. I’m keeping it very simple.
Maybe you will consider the beauty of that too.
Love,
