your daily rock : sing out!

I’m not a singer by any means.

But it feels so good to let loose.

So when Tess and I go on errands in the car, we sing. Loudly.

Sometimes it is a rousing and endless rendition of “She’ll be coming ’round the mountain when she comes” in which we make up verses that reflect our day: “She’ll be wearing old man overalls when she comes!” “She’ll be eating long red Twizzlers when she comes!” “She’ll be watching Harry Potter when she comes!”

Sometimes it is a song we hear on the local country station, like the one that goes, “Chew tobacco, chew tobacco, chew tobacco, spit.” That makes her laugh every time.

The combination of hearing our voices out loud and the laughing that accompanies those voices is healing.

Sing out today. Let loose.

Love,
