your daily rock : lie down in the grass

When I am feeling disconsolate, overwhelmed, anxious, outraged, skittish, I take off my shoes and socks and stand on the earth in my bare feet. I just stand there, grass under my feet.

It is amazing what that simple act does: it connects me to something larger than me, it soothes me in some inexplicable and fully satisfying way. We are so disconnected, many of us, from the earth. This simple act reconnects me.

Imagine how powerful it would be to enlarge that action.

Lie down in the grass. Reconnect your body to the earth. Let it heal you.

Love,

    simplicity-

    how is it present
    Here, under this tree
    on this grass
    with this melody
there is none other than that
    S I M P L I C I T Y
    elusive at home
    where the mind is cluttered
    with right and wrong
    light and dark
    walls, ceilings, floors

    when my feet
    long to feel the earth

This was a poem inspired last year during your writers’ group for teachers….I was perusing past writings after receiving my daily rock today and came across it….seemed like a message from the Universe to spend the day outdoors, in company of my wonderpup and girls. Thank you…it was just what I needed :)
