your daily rock : smile at a stranger

Why are we so closed off from each other?

What are we afraid of?

That a smile will be misunderstood? That they won’t smile back? That they’ll take offense or overreact or scowl in return?

Take that chance. It feels wonderful to offer that moment of connection and happiness.

Plus we all look better when we’re smiling.

Smile more than usual today.

Love,

Ha, so timely to see this! I just posted 2 days ago on Facebook about how much more interesting life is when I talk to people I don’t know. I always learn something new – often something quite touching, like the supermarket clerk who told me about the guy she’d been friends with for 17 years and was now married to and living happily ever after together. The conversations all started with a smile – and then escalated when I made a comment or asked a question. And they made my day so much richer than it would have been without them! So yes indeed: smile at a stranger – and then talk to them, and see what happens!
