your daily rock : look beneath the surface

My life is full of stories about people I first discounted–for whatever reason. I’m not proud of that, but there it is. We make snap judgments based on so little information, don’t we?

And, oh my, how our lives become richer when we look beneath the surface. When we notice that first thought, and work on the second. Richer not only for the friendships we might form, but also for the increased capacity of our own hearts inside our chests. Looking beneath the surface exercises the muscles of our very humanity.

Look. Look again. What else might be true?
