It is easy to feel like we’re broken.

So many people are willing to tell us we are.

We have pathologized being human.

Being human means imperfection. It means discomfort as well as joy. It means we screw up and make messes sometimes. It means we hurt as well as laugh.

Does that mean we’re broken?

No, that means we’re human.

Beautifully, messily, chaotically, fantastically, fully human.

Those cracks? As Leonard Cohen tells us, “There is a crack in everything.That’s how the light gets in.”

You’re not broken, and you don’t need to be fixed.
