your daily rock : let yourself yearn

“We are the yearning creatures of this planet.” -Robert Olen Butler

Writer Robert Olen Butler explains that the plot of any story is a yearning meeting a series of obstacles. The story doesn’t move forward without that desire–or without those barriers. So let yourself yearn, that deepest form of desire, and let yourself embrace the obstacles that move your story forward.

Don’t live so much in your head that you lose track of yearning, and don’t run from the obstacles.

Love,
