thinking thursday.

Today, I’m thinking that love is love.

That when we are open-hearted, we are at once our highest and deepest selves.

I’m thinking that love is greater than fear and hate, though they seem bigger sometimes. And that to truly love, we must love the unlovable. Because it’s easy to love lovable people.

I’m thinking that at the end, only love remains. Nothing else, just love. How beautifully ironic that this ineffable, immeasurable thing is the measure of our lives after we torment ourselves with all that worry about those tangible, measurable things that fall away, away.

That’s what I’m thinking on a thinking thursday that falls on Valentine’s Day. It’s not just a day for romantic love, but for open-hearted, wild, quiet, fully human generosity toward others.

I’ll likely be thinking the same thing tomorrow.

And on other days that end with d-a-y.

Be generous with your heart.

Plant love wherever you go. Show up like magic for someone. And for yourself.

Love,
