your daily rock : make your own way

Don’t follow a trend. Follow your heart.” -Krist Novoselic

It is so easy to follow others, do what they do, reach for success in a way prescribed by gurus.

It is so much more meaningful to follow your own heart.

Where is your heart leading you?

Love,

  • It takes bravery to follow one’s heart – mine came in the third grade when I could see another’s pain and wanted to help alleviate that pain. I did what I needed to do, even though I was so afraid of others’ censure, and walked my heart’s talk. That changed my life forever. I learned to be “brave on the rocks” as described by Sabrina Ward Harrison. My heart tells me so many truths. Funny that we place it in that organ as I feel more in my gut and trust those “gut reactions.” I probably think about it too much – I think, after taking that chance more than once, you learn to trust. It does take bravery, but it also takes spunk. I think a life is measured by the dimensions of caring that we offer the world and all its inhabitants. If we were bidden to build a life palace with rooms for each experience, each choice of action or lesson learned, can you imagine how wondrous that palace would become? We craft a life through brave heart choices. We magnify our potency through following that small, still voice or raging voice and we have to be brave in spite of others’ conditions. I know my life is much richer because of a choice in 3rd grade.
