thinking thursday.

Dandelions mind :: my brain and yours

All creative work is derivative. (Thanks to Judy Kinney)

Top ten collaboration tools.

"I have long harbored the notion, no doubt foolishly, that incarceration wouldn’t be all that particularly bad. To the contrary. It would give me time to catch up on my reading."

body :: my place and yours

Not a day over infinity.

Want, want, want. Need.

I can't decide if I want this flavor, or this flavor.

If I were an actress, I might want to be Laura Linney.

What should medicine do when it can't save your life? (Thanks to Kathryn Ruth Schuth)

soul :: my heart and yours

The health benefit of tears.

Wide awake and grieving.

A final thought :: "Let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, savor you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it will not always be so. One day I shall dig my fingers into the earth or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want more than all the world: your return." -Mary Jean Irion [with thanks to Nancy MacDonald for pointing me to this]

I’d like to be Patricia Clarkson. And I have a little Ikea bathroom cabinet you can have for free when you get your caravan.

  • Hi Patti!

Thanks so much for linking to Ruthie’s blog post, Wide Awake and Grieving. Your link allowed a lot more people to read the lovely tribute to her father, sorrow and joy.

Oh, and I’m at BlogHer10 and The Pork Board was handing out bacon lollipops. I’m sure you would be quick to decline them, but my 5 year-old son loves bacon *and* lollipops, so I feel compelled to bring one home to him. Two great tastes that taste great together? We’ll see.

Thanks again for your support for Ruthie’s blog post. I’m looking forward to your book release event at Malaprop’s in September. Take wonderful care, Stacey

  • Patti,

My husband and I are facing the last days of his father’s life. Whether it is soon or not, we do not know but likely hospice will be called in the next week or so.

The article on hospice is just what we needed in this moment. It has helped put this in perspective. We are not preparing for his death but helping him to live his last days. I needed to remember that.

These moments of serendipity, when the universe gives me what I need even when I haven’t known to ask, are beautiful moments. Thank you for being a part of this one.

    Grace and Peace,

    Cynthia
