Chicago, Chicago, Chicago. Soon, Soon, Soon.

Unitarian I know, I know.

Some people go South in the winter months to get warmer, to flee the air that crystallizes the moment it hits your lungs, to avoid the shoveling, the frostbite, the bad hat hair. I am flinging all that to the winds and going to Chicago to speak at a very cool church in Elgin, Illinois, next weekend. I love the story of their "prairie cathedral," built from an 1888 barn, and of their labyrinth. And I appreciate the opportunity to support any church that declares they are a welcoming congregation.

I hope if you're near Elgin, Illinois, maybe you'll venture out to the morning service (10:45am) at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Elgin next Sunday, January 17th. I'll be the featured speaker that morning and would love to have you there. They welcome visitors.

In addition to speaking during their morning service, I'm happy to be there to support and speak to a new class in the church that is spending twelve weeks studying Life is a Verb. What an incredible honor that is.

I hope you'll come. Could you bring me some hand warmers while you're at it? And a hot vat of coffee? And about 10 pair of wool socks? I hear it's cold in Chicago.

    Hi Patti!
Several people from the Elgin church admitted this week that they are your “groupies” and they will be swooning when you arrive. I’m looking forward to meeting you next week— just started the class, haven’t gotten the book yet, and hope to check out your blog now!

  • Why did I know you spoke to Unitarians? Oh, yes, because you speak to me!
