Paper quilt love.

Quilt at Tybee

All I wanted for my birthday was a paper quilt.

And, wow! The quilt squares wouldn't all fit on this table and are still coming in to my absolute delight. Each one a spectacular offer into the world.

More squares are arriving, so I am holding off on creating a quilt from them until after the end of August. If you'd like to send a square, please do!

Along with Carol Sloan, I've sorta invited myself to Jane Powell's amazing studio in Saluda, NC, to figure out how to connect all these works of art together and to eat gorgonzola macaroni and cheese at the Purple Onion. Not necessarily in that order.

How pleased and happy and in awe am I? You have no idea how much I love these works of art, how touched I am by your generosity and love, how humbled I am to receive such beauty.

My thanks. My thanks.

Beautiful! Oh, and the quilt is pretty too. ;-} Thanks to you, Patti, for creating this opportunity. The morning I made my square was wonderful, I felt so happy to be invited to contribute. I’m wondering if others felt the same love and joy that I felt as I worked on my square and anticipated you receiving it and then adding it to the whole. What a great idea this turned out to be!

  • Yay !!!! Wow, what a bundle full of well-earned love you have there, Miss Patti ! Truly awe-some to behold. So happy for you and I can’t wait to see what you, Carol and Jane come up with. It is going to be spectacular !
    Enjoy the GLOW…
    Big Love Hugs !

  • Ask and ye shall be given. You asked and look at what amazing love fell into your mailbox?!?! I’m loving this quilt Patti and I am so thrilled to be even one small part of it!!!

  • Wow is right.

I must confess, the card I sent to you was the first piece of artwork I felt “good enough” to send off to anyone for at least the last 8 years. I am glad that I sent it to you, because, well, you helped break me free.

  • Suzanne’s comment makes me cry. Patti, you are such a light in the world. Thanks for starting the Bridging Differences Book Club so I could come to know you in person. I really am proud to be your groupie.

  • Lovely! Beautiful! I thought I was too late but maybe I can still send one out. And a belated happy birthday to you!

Love the quilt! If you ever make it to the Santa Cruz, CA area, you must go to Gayle’s in Capitola (small beach town just south of SC)and have some Spinach Gorgonzola Pasta! Fabulous…if you can’t wait, I can send you the recipe.

Still plan to get a card off to you for your quilt.

I too loved working on your birthday paper quilt square — uh rectangle! I experience tremendous joy when I am in “creating mode”. Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this wonderful gift for you. Maybe you can frame them all together? At this rate, by the end of August your quilt could take up an entire wall! It’s going to be spectacular. Blessings to you dear Patti. With enthusiasm, Barbara

i can’t wait to see the finished piece. i had so much fun making my contribution, and i so appreciate the opportunity to be a part of your celebration.
    you are my creativity guru!

  • happppy birthday, Patti! i am so jazzed to see you sitting there in front of all those quilt squares, smiling & in awe. And i love that i could find mine, kind of right in the middle with a heart in the corner. I did not “know” you when you asked for art for your book . . . so i jumped at the chance to make something, to give back to you as you have given to me, when you announced this call. Thank you! So happy i could, and enjoy!!!

I see my contribution at the border of the picture. I so enjoyed making it on a sheet laid out in my yard…on my birthday. The breeze was lovely the day was delightful and I hope I sent some of my birthday magic to you.

  • Congratulations on all the postcard love you received. I hope this made your birthday truly special.
