With thanks to Eunice Shriver

“The right to play on any playing field? You have earned it. The right to study in any school? You have earned it. The right to hold a job? You have earned it. The right to be anyone’s neighbor? You have earned it!" -Eunice Kennedy Shriver, 1987 Special Olympics, South Bend, Indiana

With thanks to Eunice Shriver for her vision to create the Special Olympics for athletes with intellectual disabilities. May she rest in peace knowing what big work she has done in the world for so many athletes and their families. For all of us. In her honor, let's eliminate the R-word. Let's change the conversation.

On this, the second day of an intense heat wave, I have chills! It is fantastic!!! Thanks

  • This is a really moving video. I’ve long been a fan of EKS, partly for herself, partly because because I had a brother with Down’s who died last year.

Her words with the refrain “you have earned it” are so right.

By the way, your previous post about your tattoo? How about a butterfly?
