Bridging differences through the written word.

For three years, I've hosted a "Bridging Differences" book group in Asheville, meeting at Malaprop's Bookstore once a month to talk about a novel or memoir or piece of nonfiction that grapples with difference of some kind–a different voice, an "outsider," a question of identity in a dominant culture.

Many in the 37days community have asked for a virtual version of this group, a gathering of people around a single book each month and engaged in dialogue around it. Tonight, that group meets for the first time via teleconference (8-9:15pm Eastern / 5-6:15pm Pacific). You're so welcomed to join us. We'll discuss poet Audre Lorde's powerful book of essays and speeches, SISTER OUTSIDER.
