write who you are

Tessbook1 Tessbook2 Tessbook3 Tessbook4Tessbook7 Tessbook6 I've started finding little books everywhere in the house, explosions of writing from a girl just starting down that writing trail, recognizing for the first time the power of those lines on paper to say what she longs to say.

She evidently has a lot to say, from the looks of it. Little books everywhere, tucked into the couch cushions, in drawers, stuck in books, on the stairs.

She cuts paper to suit her mood, staples the pages together with the edges all akilter, and writes her little heart out.

Here's one such book, "All About Me." I'll bet you know which page made me cry.

What would your five pages say?

  • This is so awesome! What a terrific kid, who is clearly very well-parented.

  • This is adorable!! Bless that precious child.

Mine would say “I am loved.” And “God is good.” and “Today I saw something beautiful.”

I love your hair in the family portrait. I love that you can see the “I am a girl” imprint behind the portrait. And, of course, yes! Yes! We know what page made you cry! Sooooooo sweet.

  • How toe-tingling to see a writer beginning to emerge in your midst. And, a confident one, as well. Kudos to Mom & Dad. She does, indeed, sound cute & sweet.

  • Oh, to be that direct and sweet and honest and free again. Hugs and hoorahs for her – and you for honoring her and her writing.

  • Now that is a girl who knows how to love herself.

  • Miss Marshall

Yup. The Patti hair is the bomb.

  • i don’t know. they all made me cry!

  • I agree with Lucy – they all made me teary. Save each and every book to read and re-read on the day little sweetie moves out of the house. You will be very teary on that day! I am so happy that she knows how much she is loved! Thanks for sharing this with us.

  • Since reading Eckhart Tolle, my five pages would all say, “I am.” I must keep reminding myself of that, especially now because I am visiting family, and that old dynamic continuously calls to my ego, to that person who is not really me.

I love this! Tess could teach us all a thing or three. Could I borrow her for a couple of days?

I am a white person..I was raised to treat people as they treat me..I had a person of black color that I though was my friend..One day she said to me about what she was talking about that it was a black thing and that I wouldn’t understand..From that time to now I have felt that blacks are more or just as raciest as some white people.
To me some Black are just as much to blame for the current situation as are some whites.Racism is not just a white thing..Blacks are just as much to blame.Assholes come in many colors…
