Nice round numbers are our friends

50000 There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." -Leonard Cohen

Tonight, 37days celebrates a nice round number.

Marion L. Murff commented on my latest post, leaving what would be the 5,000th comment on these pages.

According to her blog, Marion is a Southern girl drunk on words, books, poetry, creating. "I'm a Louisiana girl, obsessive reader of all genres of books," her blog header reads. "I love reading and writing poetry, growing herbs and flowers, making crazy collages and one-of-a-kind jewelry (usually involving dragonflies and moonstones), sewing dream pillows, painting tin cans and boxes and turning them into treasures and interpreting dreams….and reading Tarot cards and studying the Tao and world religions."

On her blog, you'll find beautiful writing and wondrous poems, like this one:

GATHERING UP CRUMBS
By Gunilla Norris from "Becoming Bread"

Be careful with the crumbs.

Do not overlook them.

Be careful with the crumbs;
the little chances to love,

the tiny gestures, the morsels
that feed, the minims.

Take care of the crumbs;
a look, a laugh, a smile,

a teardrop, an open hand. Take care
of the crumbs. They are food also.

Do not let them fall.
Gather them. Cherish them.

It is clear she loves words, like these quotes I found there and loved:

The only Zen you can find on the tops of mountains is the Zen you bring up there. ~Robert M. Pirsig

A stumble may prevent a fall. ~English Proverb

Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought. ~Matsuo Basho

My thanks to Marion for her wonderful blog and her comment on 37days today, the 5000th!

[image seen here. Obviously, we'd have to send away the lovely chap in the black hat to make it numerically correct, but I've never been good at math since that terrible accident in trigonometry … and the photo was just too cute to pass up.]
