Book tour news–and an announcement

Madison_tops It’s no secret that I’m loving this book tour, designed, hosted, attended by you. What an incredible, insane pleasure to meet people who have been reading 37days for a week or for years, or artists who contributed the beauty that graces the pages of Life is a Verb, or people who have wandered into a bookstore to use the bathroom and suddenly find me there weeping as I read the story of Yaron. All of you have taken up residence in my heart.

A few dates have been added to the book tour and I hope if you’re near one of these cities, you’ll come by to say hello and tell me a bit of your story and perhaps buy a book for your second cousin’s piano teacher – mark your calendar and I’ll provide details when I can think straight (many of the details are already here):

GREENSBORO, NC – this Friday night, October 17th at 7pm! Barnes & Noble at Friendly Center

WAYNESVILLE, NC – Saturday, October 25th at 1pm

CANTON, OH – Wednesday, Nov 5th (details to follow)

CLEVELAND, OH – Thursday, Nov 6th at Ursuline College (private, by invitation only)

RESTON, VA – Sunday, Nov 9th at Barnes & Noble Reston – 2pm

WASHINGTON, DC – Sunday, Nov 9th at Barnes & Noble Georgetown – 7:30pm

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Monday, Nov 10th at SHRM Headquarters (private)

DURHAM, NC – Tuesday, Nov 18 at the Regulator Bookshop – 7pm

APEX, NC – Wednesday, Nov 19 at Artists’ Oasis – A "Make and Take" event in an art store where we’ll make art to go along with the book – won’t that be incredibly cool?!

SYLVA, NC – Friday, Nov 21 at City Lights Bookstore – 7pm

CHARLESTON, SC – Sunday, Nov 23rd (details to follow)

TAMPA, FL – Thursday, Dec 4th (at a Barnes & Noble -details to follow)

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Friday, Dec 5th (at the USF Barnes & Noble – details to follow)

SARASOTA, FL – Saturday, Dec 6th (at Sarasota News and Books – details to follow)

Other cities in the works include Atlanta, Charlotte, and Santa Barbara, California (and perhaps other locations in California), and more. I’ll let you know!

And now, a moment of truth.
I love this book and everything connected with it. I love the feel of the pages and the art and the readers of it. And yet, I miss writing. I feel the sense of urgency to continue these stories for my daughters and I miss the way in which I can play with words and find such joy in it. I haven’t written for too long. I long to say something else, something more.

And so, beginning Monday, October 20th, I’m going back to the roots of 37days and will post one essay each week, on Mondays, just as I did way back in 2005 when 37days began. There may be other posts during the week–perhaps more reader essays about their last 37days or ponderings on the books I’m reading or updates on the book tour–but look for a return to 37days, at last, come Monday.

  • May I urge you to head up North in CA towards Berkeley or Vacaville (Border Books is here where I live) on a weekend day…Oh How I’d love to meet you there!

  • I’m so excited for your new essays!

  • Happy, happy, Joy, joy! I will start my blog visits on Monday mornings right here – with a large cup of coffee and a box of tissues for when I cry or for when I laugh out loud and spray coffee all over my computer screen. :) And now for the BIG question – one more time – when are you coming to New England? I have a couple of possible book tour locations half lined up. Posters are ready to go, boas are bought…let’s get this NE party started! There is life in the New England states and it is very verby. Looking forward to meeting you!

    Wow!

Sounds like your book tour is going great. And so many dates too!

    Congrats, you deserve it.

  • Patti:

I’d love to have you come to San Diego.

Let me know when you are coming to California and I can help arrange it (with the writing center and my favorite local independent bookstore).

  • Yay! I have missed your writing, too! I am glad it’s coming back.

  • Becky

Yeah for Willy Street Coop!! I still love my tshirt. It says, “Mind your own business–Willy street coop.” Hahahaha….

Thank you! I’ve missed your blog writing very much and thought you were done with it. So much of what you’ve written in the blog has been helpful to me the past couple years. Thank you for that. And thank you for deciding to continue.

  • I’m so disappointed that the Pepper Pike evening is by invitation only… I already had it on the calender in ink before they emailed that only those interested graduate admissions could attend. :(

Perhaps Canton will be an option (although I could ride my bike to the other!) I patiently await the details!

    Go Patti.

Hi Patti – please let us know when you have the info for the St. Pete reading. My mom lives nearby and I know she’d love to attend. Wishing you tons of “topo”. Love, Beth & CuteDave
