Verb available on Barnes and Noble

Lifeisaverb_2 How exciting! LIFE IS A VERB is now available for pre-order at Barnes & Noble.com! And, as always, at your local independent bookshop (let’s support our local bookshops, shall we?). If you’ve already pre-ordered and would like your book autographed, as some have requested, I’m more than happy to either send an autographed bookplate or if you’ll send your book along with return postage, I’m happy to personalize it for you and send it back! Yee-haw!

As you might already know because I’ve been talking about it incessantly, 70 artists from around the world illustrated the book. My dream is to start one copy of the book around the world to each of them for their signature so I’ll have a copy with everyone’s signature!

Only 106 days until the book officially arrives! So many sit-ups and walking lunges to do before I appear on Oprah. Uh-huh. Here’s my vision: On Oprah, all the artists with me, and all of you loyal readers in the audience. Let’s all wear teal and ochre and hats like we’re going to the Kentucky Derby or a tea party in Alice in Wonderland. Now THAT would be a book party!

Patti, I like the way you think! I would love to sign your book in a round-robin book signing of the artists for you. And a stint on Oprah with us dressed to the 9s would be incredible!!!

  • Hi Patti

In Wellington we have something called the Wellington Writers Walk along our waterfront. It consists of a series of large, concrete, typographic ‘text sculptures.’ They are simply magnificent. Each of these scultptures contains a quote from a well-known New Zealand writer with strong Wellington connections. They are placed in all sorts of different places. It is an incredibly special experience looking for them all and taking the time to read them and reflect on what they are saying. Here is an example of one that I mentioned in my blog http://marica.ako.net.nz/?p=174.

My favourite of all these concrete poems is this one by Lauris Edmond:
“It’s true you can’t live here by chance, you have to do and be, not simply watch or even describe. This is the city of action, the world headquarters of the verb.”

I wanted to post a picture of it here so you could see it but unfortunately this comment box doesn’t allow me to do this.

It would be wonderful if one day you could bring ‘Life is a verb’ to the ‘headquarters of the verb’.

I hope you all is well with you and your family.

    Best wishes,
    Marica
